3rd FAERE Annual Conference

September 08-09, 2016 – Bordeaux

Organized by GREThA and Irstea

The aim of the conference is to promote scientific research in the field of environmental economics. All theoretical or applied works are welcome, on topics such as biodiversity, fishery, agriculture, forestry, water, energy, climate, pollution, green growth, and bio-based economy. Four particular themes will be highlighted: i) evaluation (non-market values, ecosystem services, sustainability criteria, equity, risk value, etc.), ii) social interactions (cooperation, coalition, etc.), iii) environmental policy (taxation, voluntary agreements, tradeable permits, labelling, etc.) and iv) the economics of network industries (energy, water, etc.).

Confirmed keynote speakers are Pr. Ian Bateman – Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment, University of East Anglia and Dr. Marko Lindroos – University of Helsinki.

This 3^rd annual conference will also be an opportunity to launch the Young Economist best paper FAERE Award. The particulars of this contest can be found here.

All presentations will be in English.

Authors are invited to submit their paper no later than April 17^th, 2016.

FAERE 2016 will take place at the Pôle juridique et Judiciaire (or Pôle Pey-Berland) on the campus of the University of Bordeaux near the “Pey-Berland” place. Such a location within the center of Bordeaux city should be convenient and pleasant for people attending the conference because both the historical part of Bordeaux and the main facilities will be accessible in a few minutes. In particular, the tramway stops a few meters from the Pôle juridique et Judiciaire.

The objective of the FAERE annual conferences is to promote the production and dissemination of research in environmental economics. A wide range of topics are welcome, including: environmental ethics, environmental agreements, the fight against pollution, loss of biodiversity, deforestation, natural hazard management, environmental federalism, property rights, climate change, green growth, recycling, threshold effects and irreversibilities, evaluation of environmental damages…
The program will consist of presentations which have followed a selection procedure, and two invited talks, given by James Hammitt (Harvard Center for Risk Analysis) and Sjak Smulders (Tilburg University).

All presentations will be in English.

The deadline for registration will be July 19th, 2015. Registrations will not be accepted after this date. Paiement is compulsory for presenters to be included in the program.

Conference Participation Fee
– Non members: 120 euros
– FAERE members: 60 euros

Registration fees include coffee breaks, lunches and the gala dinner on September 10th. Registration will be effective only after payment reception.

The organizers of your conference have chosen to offer you the opportunity to voluntarily limit the GHG emissions due to your travel.

This action will contribute to mitigate climate change by growing the forest of Toulouse Business School (http://www.purprojet.com/fr/p/tbs) developed according its partnership with Pur Projet.

Your engagement will enhance the development of the agroforestry project (Alto Huayabamba) in Peruvian Amazonia through funding the plantation of trees. Since 2008, this afforestation project aims at developing model agroforestry systems in order to ensure long term sustainability of cocoa cultures.

The calculation of the appropriate compensation for your travel depends on the transportation mode and on the distance.

After the conference, a personalized certificate of plantation will be available in your personal area. You will be directly notified by email. You will also be able to offer your tree by changing the name on the certificate.
