Dear FAERE members of future members, you can renew your membership, for the 2026 calendar year. Individual memberships are now open on the association’s website(https://faere.fr/nos-membres/adherer-2021/). Thank you in advance for your support!
It is with deep sadness that FAERE learned of the passing of Roger Guesnerie, a leading figure in economics and an intellectual of rare rigor.
FAERE would like to pay special tribute to his early commitment to our cause: Roger Guesnerie was one of the very first honorary members of FAERE when it was founded in 2013, lending his support and providing essential scientific legitimacy to our collective project.
A leading economist, he also made a decisive contribution to environmental and climate economics, advocating for the rigorous integration of environmental issues into economic analysis and public policy. In particular, he edited the collective work The Design of Climate Policy (2008, with Henry Tulkens). The lectures he gave at the Collège de France, collected in L’économie du changement climatique (The Economics of Climate Change), are also a major reference work.
Through his work, his intellectual rigour and his sense of public responsibility, he will continue to be a lasting inspiration to the FAERE community.
Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, loved ones and colleagues.
Serge Garcia, President of FAERE
FAERE has learned with great sadness of the passing of René Passet, economist and one of the association’s honorary members since its creation. A pioneer of ecological economics in France, his work helped shape a field that remains at the heart of our scientific concerns.
Today, we wish to pay tribute to the importance of his contributions and to the lasting influence he has had on our community.
We extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
Serge Garcia, President of FAERE
FAERE has learned with deep sadness of the passing of Gilles Rotillon, which occurred this past weekend.
An emeritus professor at Université Paris Nanterre and a renowned expert in environmental and natural resource economics, Gilles made a lasting impact on our field through his work on climate change and sustainable development.
Beyond his scientific contributions, Gilles was a wonderful person, a dear friend of FAERE, and a dedicated teacher who inspired and educated generations of students in environmental economics and far beyond.
Our thoughts are with his family, his loved ones, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dear colleagues,

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Claude Henry on April 17, 2025. An exceptional economist and a passionate advocate for interdisciplinary thinking, he was particularly renowned for his work on climate policy and sustainable development. FAERE was proud to recognize him as one of its very first honorary members upon its founding in 2013 (https://faere.fr/nos-membres/membres-d-honneur/).
