 Winter School on Economics of Energy and Environment – Call for Applications

The Winter School on Economics of Energy and Environment will take place on 16–18 December 2026, bringing together PhD students, junior researchers and leading scholars in energy and environmental economics.

The programme combines keynote lectures, research presentations and seminar groups, covering a wide range of current research topics: energy and electricity market design, renewable energy investment, regulation and digitalisation of electricity grids, distributional effects of environmental policies, climate impacts, and the energy transition.

The Winter School will feature contributions from Philippe Quirion (CIRED), Frank A. Wolak (Stanford University), Nicolas Astier (Paris School of Economics), Claire Bergaentzlé-Lorenz (DTU), Lutz Sager (ESSEC Business School), Veronika Grimm (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg), Afzal Siddiqui (Stockholm University), as well as other researchers in the field.

 Who can apply? PhD students and junior post-docs
 Application deadline: 7 October 2026

Applications should include a short motivation letter, a CV, and a working paper/publication or detailed description of the research to be presented.

 A great opportunity for young researchers in environmental and energy economics to present their work, receive feedback and interact with leading scholars in the field.

**A Cross-Disciplinary Perspective on Philosophy of Science, Political Philosophy, and Environmental Economics**

 **December 3, 2026**

How are economics and the natural sciences increasingly converging to better understand the relationship between societies and the environment? What are the epistemological, methodological, and political implications of this evolution?

This workshop welcomes contributions at the intersection of economics, philosophy of science, political philosophy, and environmental sciences, focusing on three broad themes:

 The epistemology of hybridization between economics and the natural sciences
 The political and normative implications of this hybridization
 “Terrestrial” economies and new approaches to the society–nature interface

 **Abstracts (3,000–5,000 characters, including references) should be submitted by July 15, 2026.**

This workshop offers an opportunity to bring together economists, philosophers, historians of science, and environmental researchers to discuss the ongoing transformation of knowledge in response to the ecological crisis.

53th EGRIE seminar & Colloquium and GRIR special issue “Transformative Challenges in Agricultural Insurance”

The 53th seminar of the European Group of Risk and Insurance Economists (EGRIE) will be held in Rennes, France, on September 20-23, 2026, organized by SMART in collaboration with CREM and EHESP/UMR Arènes.  Submissions can be on any topic in economics, finance or management science that relates to risk and insurance.

In extension to the seminar, the Geneva Risk and Insurance Review (GRIR) and EGRIE are organizing a Colloquium associated with a GRIR special issue on “Transformative Challenges in Agricultural Insurance.”  The goal is to bring together scholars from risk and insurance economics and scholars from agricultural economics for new productive collaboration on risk and risk management in this era of agricultural transformation.  Researchers are encouraged to submit papers on this theme covering one or more of the three noted transformational challenges: climate change, agroecological transition, digital revolution.  The Colloquium will occur on September 23, 2026, following the EGRIE seminar.

Completed papers or detailed abstracts should be submitted by April 15, 2026.
