Post-doc CDI – Scientific referent of the Sustainable finance observatory

The project:
The Sustainable Finance Observatory is a project historically co-funded by ADEME and the European Union as part of a LIFE grant for the Finance Climact project led by ADEME.
The aim of the Observatory is to understand, compare and monitor the contribution of the various economic players to a low-carbon and sustainable society. To do this, it provides freely accessible data and studies, at both individual and global level.

The host organisation:
The Sustainable Finance Observatory is a project hosted by the PARC Foundation that aims to improve methods for monitoring the Paris Agreement and to boost research and data on green finance, particularly internationally.
The Observatoire de la finance durable and the PARC foundation are part of the Institut Louis Bachelier, a partnership-based research network in economics and finance set up in 2008 by the Ministry of Finance to create a research ecosystem bringing together academics, businesses and public authorities.
The position of scientific advisor:
The PARC foundation hosts a Scientific and Expertise Committee (CSE) made up of more than 50 renowned players in the sector.
As defined in the governance of the Sustainable Finance Observatory, a Scientific Advisor is responsible for ensuring that the Observatory’s publications are validated from a methodological and scientific point of view by the SCE.
The specific role of the Scientific Coordinator is to coordinate working groups, validation committees and volunteer members of the CSE in order to peer review and validate the methodologies used by the Observatory and ensure the scientific rigour of its publications. In addition, during the second half of his/her post, the Scientific Advisor will be required to work on publications and methodological research directly related to the Observatory’s activities and publications.
Profile
You have completed your PhD on a subject related to sustainable finance / the economy of tomorrow; or even energy with a strong finance component. Ideally, you will have some initial experience, such as an internship in a company. You are sensitive to the issues of climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Tasks
The Scientific Advisor will be responsible for the following tasks:
– Responsible for the methodological validation of the Observatory’s deliverables by the PARC SSC.
– Responsible for organising, facilitating and reporting on working groups with the PARC SSC.
– Responsible for carrying out studies and analyses for the PARC SSC WGs in order to support the committee’s volunteer members.
– Drafting publications for the Observatoire de la finance durable and/or the CSE.
– Carrying out analyses, studies and research related to the Sustainable Finance Observatory’s current and future studies in support of the Observatory’s teams.
– Representing the Observatoire at conferences, working groups and scientific and technical platforms.
– Be a driving force behind proposals to develop the Sustainable Finance Observatory.
– Your tasks may change within the Sustainable Finance Observatory depending on the project’s priorities.
Skills required:
– Knowledge of sustainable finance: labels, ecosystem, regulatory framework, good knowledge of carbon (29LEC, SFDR, Taxonomy, etc.)
– Knowledge of academic literature on the subjects of sustainable finance/economics
– Knowledge of energy issues
– Knowledge of the causes and consequences of climate change and planetary limits
– Experience of ESG criteria and practices is a plus
– Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
– Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint required
– English – spoken and written
– Dynamic and motivated, even passionate?
– Responsive and adaptable
– Self-starter with a taste for challenge and initiative
– Curiosity and open-mindedness
Conditions:
Start of contract: Open position.
Location: Palais Brongniart, 28 Place de la Bourse, 75002 Paris – Partial teleworking practised, not available for full teleworking.
Level of studies: Level 8 – (Doctorate): please note that this post is only open to doctoral students who have never signed a permanent contract after their thesis.
Salary: gross monthly salary between €2889 and €3500.
