Hello everyone !<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Some happy news, but also some very sad ones, left their mark on the first part of year 2017 for the FAERE, as reflected in the different parts of this Newsletter. Spring was the season of new Working Papers and summer will host our conferences, among which the 23th EAERE Conference in Athens next week, and our 4th Annual Conference in Nancy next September. Other conference announcements are available on our website.<\/span>

Alain Ayong Le Kama, president of the FAERE, was appointed as Chief education officer in French Guyana, in January
\n<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

Its activity is in full swing, as you can see it in the\u00a0Guianese media : here<\/a> in press conference, or here<\/a> while disributing the exam topics for the Baccalaureate…<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

He remains the president of the FAERE. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Death of Pierre Lasserre, honorary member elected in 2016
\n<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We have had to announce the very sad news of the loss suffered by our community of environmental and resource economists: <\/span>Pierre Lasserre<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/a>, former <\/span>Professor<\/span> at l\u2019Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, died in a ski accident in April. Various tributes were paid to him by his friends and colleagues:<\/span><\/span> G\u00e9rard Gaudet and Steve Ambler on the website of the Canadian Journal of Economics<\/a>, or Bob Cairns in the EAERE Newsletter<\/a><\/span>.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

His son created a Facebook page<\/a> <\/span>dedicated to his memory, where you can share photos and memories, as well as post words of comfort for his loved ones.<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Next Annual Conference in Nancy, on 12-13 September 2017
\n<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The LEF and the BETA are hosting the 4th FAERE Annual Conference. Paper acceptances have been notified and the programme will be rich! It will be available online<\/a> during summer. Presenters have to register before July 20th for their papers to be included in the programme. Registration fees and memberships can be bought jointly (only online<\/a>, by credit card).<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Another good reason to join us quickly: the FAERE members attending the EAERE Annual conference in Athens are invited to celebrate the 4th summer of our association!<\/span><\/p>\n

Elections at EAERE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Every other year, the EAERE members vote to elect a new President and two new members of the Council. The candidates have been nominated by the Nominating Committee for EAERE Elections 2017 composed of Michael Rauscher (chair), Phoebe Koundouri et Anil Markandya. <\/span><\/p>\n

Two candidates will compete for the position of Elect President: Christian Gollier and Markku Ollikainen. And the four candidates for the Council are: Brita Bye, Carolyn Fischer, Maria Loureiro and Karl W. Steininger. Their statement and short bio, as well as their long CV, are available on the EAERE website<\/a>. Elections will be run electronically until July 10th, 2017. If you are an EAERE member, please <\/em>vote!<\/span><\/p>\n

The results of the elections will be announced by July 15th, 2017.

The FAERE Thematic Workshops<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

The 7th Thematic Workshop<\/a> was held in Brest, more precisely in the <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span>Institut Universitaire Europ\u00e9en de la Mer<\/a> in Plouzan\u00e9, on 11-12 May 2017, in a friendly and studious atmosphere. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The next FAERE Thematic workshop will be organized by Stefano Bosi, at the Paris-Saclay University, in November 2017. A call for papers will be circulated.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
